Following is a letter I had written to John via email (while he was out of town) to inform him of the catastrophic event played out upon our unsuspecting television. I had been watching a great deal of Jane Austin movies and had a creative moment.
Dear John,
You would be very glad to know that I have solved the television dilemma in our home. There will be no more television at all or Wii games for that matter. You will not, however, rejoice in the means whereby these things have been accomplished. For it was just yesterday afternoon that the solving of said dilemma came to a quick and abrupt resolution without my interference in the least. I was outside, tending the backyard with all its weeds and struggling grass - which I might also add has sprouted and adds great hope to my imaginations for the improvement of our humble yard - when Tucker, having discovered a long forgotten, dusty and buried water pistol decided to give it a run. Well, you can probably imagine where this leads us to. Yes, you are very smart. Picture this: Joshua sitting on the couch, staring intently at the television screen, bent on defeating the Ben Ten game for the third time when along comes his playful and clueless brother with a loaded water pistol. After several attempts at striking me and being rebuffed, he decided to try his luck winning his brother's attention. Attention is definitely what he got when discovering several orifices on the base of the television in which a stream of water could perfectly penetrate. The game came to an abrupt end (without saving progress Joshua might add) and the life to the poor, defenseless television has yet to be resurrected. I have made such efforts as blowing warm air into the suspected orifices with my hairdryer but to no avail. My only hope is it may act similarly to your accosted mp3 player that was given up on last year after being forgotten in your pocket during a visit into the ocean tide and then, surprising us all, came back to life later when your curiosity led you to put it back together. Any advice regarding this subject matter would be greatly appreciated for I do miss watching my movies in the privacy of the family room after the children have retired for the evening. Last night I subjected them to the last bit of Pride and Prejudice on their small television in their room which lasted a little over an hour and bored them quite silly (to my utter annoyance). Perhaps it is all for the best though I thought my management on the television time was handled quite well. Now we will discover new ways (or old ones for that matter) of entertainment and peacemaking.
Yours very truly,
Kori
